Expain the meaning of Organisation Behaviour?

 Organisation Behaviour:-

First, we will discuss behaviour. Behaviour is a way of action. It is basically Goal Oriented. In other words, our behaviour is generally motivated by a desire to attain a goal.

Meaning of Organisation Behaviour:-

Organization behaviours are passed of total management but play a very important role in every area of management and have been accepted by all the people concerned.

Organizational behaviours are the study and application of knowledge about how people act within the organisation. "It is a human tool for human benefit. It applies to the behaviours of people in all types of organisation ." Such as business, government, school, service organisation.

Definition of Organisation Behaviour:-

1. According to Stephen. P.Robbins

 "Organisation behaviour is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behaviour with an organisation to apply such knowledge towards improving an organisations effectiveness."

2. In the words of Fred Luthans, 

"Organisation behaviours is directly concerned with the understanding, predicting  and  influencing in organizations."

Feature of Organisation Behaviours:

1) An Integral part of management: 

Organisational behaviour is a part of general management and not the whole of management. It represents a behaviour approach to management.

2) Organisation behaviour is a  branch of Social Science: 

Organisation behaviour approach to management.

3) Levels of analysis: 

Organisation behaviour involves three levels of analysis of the behaviour of the organisation itself. It provides rational thinking about people.

4) Cause and Effect relationship:

Human behaviour is generally taken in term of cause and effect relationship and not in the philosophical term. It helps in predicting the behaviour of Individuals.

5) A science as well as art: 

Organisational behaviour is a science as well as an art. The systematic knowledge about human behaviour in a science and the application of behavioural knowledge and skills is an art. Organisational behaviour is not an exact science because it can not exactly predict the behaviour of people in organizations.

6) A body of Theory, Research and Application: 

Organisational behaviour consists of a body of theory, research and application which helps in understanding human behaviour in the organization. All these techniques help managers to solve human problems in organizations.

7) Goal-Oriented: 

Organisational behaviour is an action-oriented and goal-oriented discipline. The major goals of organisational behaviour are to understand, explain and predict human behaviour in the organisation and context.

8) Rational Thanking: 

Organisational behaviour provides rational thinking about people and their behaviour environment.

Importance of Organisational Behaviour

Need of Studying Organisation behaviour:

Organisational behaviour is an exciting field of study, Which can help the managers ineffective handling of human resources for the realization of organizational goal. It helps in understanding and managing human behaviour. It can be explained in the following headings.

1) Understanding of Self and others: 

Organisational behaviour (behavioural science) helps an individual understanding himself and others better. Organisational behaviour is a useful tool for understanding human behaviour in all the directions in which human beings interact. Human behaviour can be studied at the individual level, interpersonal level and group level and intergroup level.


2) Improvement of Interpersonal Relations:

This will improve interpersonal relations because it helps an understanding himself and others better.


3) A Tool of Motivation:

Organisational behaviour is a tool of motivation by which a manager can understand the basis of motivation and what he should do to motivate his subordination. 


4) cordial industrial Relations;

The study/field of Organisation behaviour will be useful to maintain cordial industrial relations. It helps understand the causes for the problem, predict its course of action and control its consequences. it also helps understand the causes of poor industrial relations in the organisation and suggest suitable measures for their improvements.


5) Useful in Marketing:

Organisational behaviour is useful in the field of marketing. In dynamic mechanisms of the flow of goods and services from producer to the consumer, the awareness of the nature of the individual has an immediate or long-range contribution to the success or failure of the enterprise.

6) Improves ability to understanding employee behaviour:

Organisation behaviour improves the ability to understand employees behaviour.

7) Higher productivity and better results:

Effective management does not mean competent utilization of technical or financial resource alone. Rather it implies efficient management of human resources. This is where organisational behaviour comes into the picture. Organisational behaviour is a discipline that enables a manager to motivate his subordinates towards higher productivity and better results.

8) Effective Organisational Climate:

Behavioural Science (such an organisational behaviour) suggest the creation of an organisational climate in totality rather than merely improving the physiological conditions or increasing employee satisfaction by changing the isolated work process
